Hurry Up Harry
A small Amplifier-look-a-like Geocache dedicated to my late father Harry - the inspiration behind the hit single Hurry Up Harry by Sham 69.
Sham 69 were formed in Hersham , Surrey in 1975 and the song Hurry Up Harry was released in October of 1978, and reached number 10 on the UK singles chart.
It was through the 70’s that Harry hung around with the band , ‘going down the pub’ and living into the punk rock lifestyle and movement at the time. Although through the years the friendship group grew apart , and Harry ultimately moved north to Lancashire, he still kept in contact with the members of the band and would always share the fact that he was the inspiration for the song to anyone who would listen. He was very proud of this, and his office was always adorned in Sham 69 merchandise.
Harry passed away September 11th 2024 following a motorcycle accident at the age of 62 , and at his funeral, he went out in punk rock style to the track itself.
He loved the countryside of the north west, especially Beacon Fell, where he would regularly walk the dog and stop into the cafe for a cup of tea or coffee and so, this geocache has been placed along one of his favourite walking trails.
A secret legend to the punk rock scene - he will always be missed and loved. Please scan the record and rest a while with the memory of him.
