Welcome, intrepid treasure hunter, to Brickeen Bridge – a charming little stone bridge that’s been keeping feet dry in Killarney National Park since the 1830s. Back then, they built things to last… which is more than can be said for your hiking boots after a few Irish rainstorms.
The name “Brickeen” comes from the Irish Breacán, meaning “little trout,” so if you see fish darting around under the arch, that’s just them making fun of you for taking so long to find the cache.
The bridge itself is one of the prettiest in the park – a perfect photo stop if you want to convince friends you’ve been wandering around a fairytale landscape. (Bonus: if you squat just right, you’ll look like a hobbit on holiday.)
Your mission: seek out the cache hidden at the end of the bridge. It’s tucked away safely, so no need to dangle over the edge like an adventurous goat. The views here are gorgeous, so take your time…
Good luck, and remember: if you get strange looks from passing walkers, just tell them you’re “conducting important research.” It works every time.
