The oldest soda fountain in Alabama is Payne's Sandwich Shop & Soda Fountain in Scottsboro, which opened in 1869 as a drug store and later added its soda fountain, making it a historic destination that continues to serve classic treats - that today includes a large selection of sandwiches and great ICE CREAM for dessert.
Since this event is within the specified period for geocachers to observe World Postcard Day (officially on October 1), you will receive a special souvenir for the first event you attend between September 28 and October 4 -- this might be the event for you to do so! Some unused post cards will (hopefully) be provided. Some basic materials will be provided if you'd like to create one of your own. If you want to mail one, bring your own stamp. Those that are not mailed will be collected and delivered to Clearview Cancer Institute to cheer up clients that might need a smile. 
If you know of a person or agency that might like to receive a postcard or two, please let me know and we can add them to the list.
I imagine staying indoors for an hour to eat and enjoy our delicious sandwiches and salads... then move to the tables on the sidewalk out front to work on our postcards (unless it possible to stay inside if they aren't overwhelmed).
