Thank you for visiting Fort Pierce Inlet State Park on Florida's Treasure Coast.
Did you know that the six-mile stretch of beach between Ft. Pierce Inlet and Avalon State Park have have over 1,500 sea turtle nests every year? If you do the math, that's one sea turtle nest every 20 feet of beach. That's a lot of nests! Check out the information cards in the cache to learn about all about our beautiful Leatherback, Loggerhead, and Green sea turtles.
The cache is located in the Seagrape trees along the rock jetty trail leading to the main beach from the South parking lot.
Please remember that if you live within eyesight of the beach that white lights will confuse baby turtles as they're hatching and lead them away from the water. We recommend leaving lights off at night from May through October.
If you ever find a sea turtle or hatchling in distress contact Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation (FWC) at 561-357-4200.
