About SideTracked
This cache belongs to the SideTracked series. It is not designed to take you to a magical place with a breathtaking view. It's simply a cache-and-dash distraction for the weary public transport user, which can be found at or near train stations, former train stations, and miniature railroads. There are currently over 4,500 SideTracked caches in more than 30 countries around the world. More information can be found on the SideTracked series website.
If you are grabbing this cache and not aware of the fun multi now in play at this station and the other three new A Line stations as of 2025, visit Riding the Rails Public Art Tour. Grab the clue off of the public art at this station and the others to collect the smiley upon your return to Pomona.
Since you are currently near the La Verne Metro Station, here is some info about its public art.
Artist's Statement:
“La Verne’s history—of water, citrus, and architecture—was the conceptual and formal basis for Connectivity, a suite of three stainless steel sculptures at the La Verne/Fairplex Station. Each sculpture points in a different direction, addressing three different communities that come together at the station.”
--Blue McRight
Project Description:
Connectivity celebrates La Verne’s infrastructure, architecture, and connection to water. The design for each of the three sculptures is based on an orchard ladder, but with a repeating zig-zag pattern instead of traditional horizontal rungs. This pattern is an ancient symbol for water and appears in the ceramic tile ornamentation of the Metropolitan Water District’s Weymouth Tower and along the roofline of the former La Verne Orange and Lemon Grower’s Association building. The Arrow Highway, an important connector for La Verne, is represented with arrow-shaped concrete bases. Each “arrow” is oriented in a different direction and points towards one of three community assets: Downtown La Verne, the University of La Verne, and the Pomona Fairplex.
