Celebrate 200 Years of Railway History!
In 1825, the Stockton & Darlington Railway opened the world’s first passenger railway station on Tuesday 27th September — a milestone that transformed travel forever. Steam locomotives carried passengers and goods at unprecedented speed, sparking a transport revolution that connected towns, boosted industry, and shaped modern Britain.
Wauchope railway station is located on the North Coast Line. It was opened on 12 April 1915 when the line was extended from Taree. Wauchope was the end of the line until 3 December 1917 when the line was extended to Kempsey. The current station building was erected in 1990.
This special SideTracked Railway 200 event at Wauchope is part of a international celebration running from Wednesday 24th to Tuesday 30th September 2025. All finds and hides from this event count towards your SideTracked statistics, and a unique profile badge will be created especially for this event.
NB: These events celebrate 200 years of the development of rail in Britain and it has been confirmed that attendance at the event will give us Aussies a SideTracked find.
