Instalada no Pavilhão de Portugal, a Biblioteca António Mega Ferreira é um equipamento cultural de proximidade que abriu as suas portas à cidade, a 22 de maio de 2025.
Este equipamento acolhe a biblioteca pessoal de António Mega Ferreira, fruto de um memorando de entendimento assinado, a 22 de Maio de 2023, pelos herdeiros de António Mega Ferreira, a Câmara Municipal de Lisboa, a Junta de Freguesia do Parque Nações e a Universidade de Lisboa.
Por se tratar de uma coleção patrimonial, a sua consulta é circunscrita ao espaço da biblioteca, para que curiosos e estudiosos, possam a partir dela conhecer melhor António Mega Ferreira, reconhecido como um dos grandes intelectuais portugueses das últimas décadas e uma das figuras que mais dinamizaram o país na sua área, adotou o compromisso cívico de, em prol da liberdade individual, empenhar-se na educação social e cultural das populações.
A par da sua coleção, este espaço disponibiliza também muitas das obras editadas durante a EXPO 98, num trabalho conjunto com o Centro Interpretativo da Expo 98, sob gestão da Junta de Freguesia do Parque das Nações, igualmente instalado no Pavilhão de Portugal.
Este é um espaço de leitura, estudo e de trabalho, que funciona quase 24h por dia e que acolhe programação cultural, em articulação com a Reitoria da Universidade de Lisboa e com o Centro Interpretativo da Expo 98.
Located in the Pavilion of Portugal, the António Mega Ferreira Library is a nearby cultural facility that opened its doors to the city on May 22, 2025.
This equipment houses the personal library of António Mega Ferreira, resulting from a memorandum of understanding signed on May 22, 2023, by the heirs of António Mega Ferreira, the City Council of Lisbon, the Parish Council of Parque das Nações, and the University of Lisbon.
As it is a heritage collection, its consultation is limited to the library space, so that curious individuals and scholars can better understand António Mega Ferreira, recognized as one of the great Portuguese intellectuals of recent decades and one of the figures who most energized the country in his field, he took on the civic commitment to strive for social and cultural education of the populations in favor of individual freedom.
Alongside its collection, this space also makes available many of the works published during EXPO 98, in a joint effort with the Interpretative Center of Expo 98, managed by the Parish Council of Parque das Nações, also located in the Pavilion of Portugal.
This is a space for reading, studying, and working, which operates almost 24 hours a day and hosts cultural programming, in collaboration with the Rectorate of the University of Lisbon and the Interpretative Center of Expo 98.
