Remembering Stevie #1: The Four Sentinels
Welcome to the first in a series of caches dedicated to the memory of our wonderful greyhound Stevie. These caches are placed in Stevie's favourite places.
Being the first cache, this one is "reasonably" straightforward and is not far off the shared pedestrian/cyclepath so you will probably have to be discrete in rootling around for it! You're looking for a black 35mm film container and it is hidden somewhere on the edifice. It holds the log which is an A4 paper rolled as neatly as I could possibly manage and, although I've started the cache empty, you're more than welcome to leave small trinkets providing they can fit inside. Be warned - there isn't any pen or pencil to sign the log so you'll have to bring one.
A bit of background: Stevie absolutely loved this walk and he walked past "The Four Sentinels" regularly. Shadowing the cache location are The Spetchells, once a waste trailing from the old ICI plant just over the railway line from here and is now a significant and very important area of Special Scientific Research Interest (SSRI) thanks to its pH and mineral consituents. Have a look around and there are some lovely caches in this area as well. This area has a spectacular tree canopy in the Summer and my family and I colloquially termed this place "The Avenue".
