Welcome to your first day at Lumon Industries! You have been placed in the Macrodata Refining department, where you'll be helping to refine the data used in our Lumon products!
A refiner is someone who transforms raw material into something purer, more functional, and easier to access. In the context of macrodata, a refiner’s role is to eliminate impurities from data and restructure it into its most refined state. At Lumon, refiners are selected for their sharp intuition, emotional sensitivity, concentration, and overall intelligence. They are tasked with sorting large data sets from various categories swiftly, accurately, and—most importantly—consistently.
Unrefined macrodata appears as an overwhelming expanse of numbers, seemingly endless and chaotic. With time, the refiner begins to notice distinct clusters within the data that makes them feel a certain way. Depending what emotion the numbers have on the refiner (joy, fear, rage, or just plain odd) helps the refiner identify what bin to place the data.
