Yorke Peninsula is alive after dark! If you’re out at night, you may hear or even glimpse some of Australia’s most iconic nocturnal birds. The rare Australian Masked Owl (Tyto novaehollandiae), the soft-calling Australian Boobook (Ninox boobook) and the ghostly Barn Owl (Tyto alba delicatula) all hunt here after dusk. Sharing the night skies are the camouflaged Tawny Frogmouth (Podargus strigoides), which looks like a broken branch by day, and the tiny Australian Owlet-nightjar (Aegotheles cristatus), often heard before it’s seen. Together they create the soundtrack of Yorke Peninsula nights – keep your ears open while you search for this cache!
Luckliy we know where this wise old owl can be found just need to get it down, for that you might need the use of a TOTT.
