Geocache Description:

Aşgabadyň taryhy

Şäheriň başlangyjy (19-njy asyr)

Häzirki Aşgabadyň ýerinde ozallar-da birnäçe ilatly ýer, şol sanda mongollar tarapyndan ýykylan Konjikala obasy ýerleşipdir. Has ähmiýetli ilat oturymlylygy 19-njy asyrda, bu ýerde kerwen ýolunyň ugrunda kiçijik oba döräninden soň başlandy. Geljekki Aşgabat üçin esasy pursat 1881-nji ýylda bolup geçdi, şonda patyşa goşunlary bu ýeri basyp alyp, harby berkitme gurdular. Eýran (häzirki Eýran) serhediniň golaýyndaky strategik ýerleşişi sebäpli, berkitme tiz ösüp başlady. Esasan-da, 1885-nji ýylda Aşgabady Russiýa imperiýasynyň günbatar bölegi bilen birleşdiren Zakaspiý demir ýolunyň gurluşygyndan soň, ol möhüm dolandyryş we söwda merkezi boldy. Şol döwürde şäher Aşgabat (rusça: Асхабад) diýlip atlandyrylypdyr.

Sowet döwri we täzeden gurluşyk

1917-nji ýyldaky Oktýabr rewolýusiýasyndan we ondan soňky raýat urşundan soň, şäher 1919-njy ýylda Türkmen Sowet Sotsialistik Respublikasynyň paýtagty boldy. 1927-nji ýylda onuň ady bolşewik Pawel Gerasimowiç Poltoratskiniň hormatyna Poltoratsk diýlip üýtgedildi, emma 1930-njy ýylda yzyna Aşgabat adyna gaýdyp geldi. Sowet döwründe şäher giň gerimli üýtgeşmelere sezewar boldy, ýöne onuň ösüşine 20-nji asyryň iň erbet ýer titremelerinden biri erbet täsir etdi.

1948-nji ýyldaky Aşgabat ýer yranmasy

1948-nji ýylyň 6-njy oktýabrynda Aşgabat Rihteriň şkalasy boýunça takmynan 7.3 bal ululygyndaky ýer titremesi bilen sarsdy. Ýer sarsgynlary ýary gijeden gysga wagt soň başlady we ilatyň köpüsini uklap ýatyrka tutdy. Ol şeýle bir güýçlüdi welin, şäheriň we onuň töwereginiň uly bölegini ýer bilen ýegsan etdi.

  • Pida çekilenler we zyýan: Pidalaryň takyk sany näbelli, ýöne maglumatlara görä, ol 25,000-den 110,000 adama çenli aralykda bolup, şol wagtky şäheriň ilatynyň üçden iki bölegi ýa-da ondan-da köpüsi heläk bolup biler. Binalaryň 98%-i we infrastrukturasynyň köp bölegi ýykyldy. Sowet režiminiň gizlinlik syýasaty sebäpli, zyýanyň we ölenleriň sany birnäçe onýyllyklap resmi taýdan aýdylmady.
  • Netijeleri we gurluşyk: Ýer titremesi netijesinde Aşgabat doly täzeden guruldy. Sowet Soýuzy täzeden gurluşyga uly serişdeleri goýdy we şäher has seýsmiki taýdan durnukly gurluşlary ulanmak bilen täzeden guruldy. Täze binalar we giň şaýollar adaty sowet arhitekturasyny görkezýärdi, bu bolsa şähere täze keşp berdi, emma soň ol täzeden düýpli üýtgedildi

Garaşsyzlygy gazananyndan soň Aşgabat (1991)

Sowet Soýuzynyň dargamagyndan we 1991-nji ýylda Türkmenistanyň garaşsyzlygyny gazananyndan soň, Aşgabat täze döwletiň paýtagty boldy. Ilkinji prezident Saparmurat Nyýazowyň, özüni ömürlik prezident diýip yglan eden liderligi astynda, uly şäher gurluşygy başlandy. Aşgabat uly tebigy gaz gorlaryndan gelýän ýurduň güýjüniň we baýlygynyň nyşanyna öwrüldi.

Şäher müňlerçe ak mermerli binalar, giň bulwarlar we altyn heýkeller bilen arhitektura sergisiniň meýdançasyna öwrüldi. Bu taslama Nyýazowyň 2006-njy ýylda aradan çykmagyndan soň hem täze prezident Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedowyň ýolbaşçylygynda dowam etdi, ol şähere has köp monumental gurluşlary we häzirki zaman aýna we mermer binalaryny goşup, şäheriň "Ak mermer şäheri" diýen abraýyny artdyrdy. Bu taslamalar, köplenç özleriniň megalomaniýasy we peýdasyzlygy üçin tankyt edilseler-de, Aşgabady dünýäniň arhitektura taýdan iň özboluşly we tapawutly paýtagtlaryndan birine öwürdi.

The History of Ashgabat

The City's Beginnings (19th Century)

The area where Ashgabat is located today was once home to several settlements, including a caravansary and the village of Konjikala, which was destroyed by the Mongols. Significant settlement began in the 19th century when a small village appeared on a caravan route. The key moment for the future Ashgabat came in 1881, when Tsarist troops conquered the area and founded a military fortress there. Thanks to its strategic location near the Persian (modern-day Iran) border, the fortress quickly grew. It became an important administrative and commercial center, especially after the completion of the Trans-Caspian Railway in 1885, which connected Ashgabat to the western part of the Russian Empire. At that time, the city was called Ashkhabad (Russian: Асхабад).

The Soviet Era and Reconstruction

After the October Revolution in 1917 and the subsequent civil war, the city became the capital of the Turkmen Soviet Socialist Republic in 1919. In 1927, its name was changed to Poltoratsk in honor of the Bolshevik Pavel Gerasimovich Poltoratsky, but it reverted to its original name, Ashkhabad, in 1930. During the Soviet era, the city underwent extensive changes, but its development was tragically interrupted by one of the worst earthquakes of the 20th century.

The Ashgabat Earthquake of 1948

On October 6, 1948, Ashgabat was hit by a devastating earthquake with an estimated magnitude of 7.3 on the Richter scale. The tremors struck shortly after midnight, catching most of the residents in their sleep. It was so powerful that it virtually leveled a large part of the city and its surrounding area.

  • Casualties and Damage: The exact number of casualties is unknown, but estimates range from 25,000 to 110,000 people, meaning up to two-thirds of the city's population at the time may have perished. 98% of all buildings and most of the infrastructure were destroyed. Due to the Soviet regime's policy of secrecy, the extent of the damage and the number of deaths were not officially disclosed for several decades.
  • Impact and Rebuilding: As a result of the earthquake, Ashgabat was completely rebuilt. The Soviet Union invested significant resources into the reconstruction, and the city was built anew with an emphasis on more seismically resilient structures. The new buildings and wide avenues reflected typical Soviet architecture, giving the city a new character that would later be drastically altered once again.

Ashgabat After Gaining Independence (1991)

Following the collapse of the Soviet Union and Turkmenistan's independence in 1991, Ashgabat became the capital of the new state. Under the leadership of its first president, Saparmurat Niyazov, who declared himself president for life, a massive urban reconstruction began. Ashgabat became a symbol of the country's power and wealth, which stems from its vast natural gas reserves.

The city was transformed into an architectural showcase with thousands of white marble buildings, expansive boulevards, and golden statues. This project continued after Niyazov's death in 2006 under the new president, Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov, who added more monumental structures and modern glass and marble buildings, earning the city its reputation as the "White Marble City." These projects, while often criticized for their megalomania and impracticality, have made Ashgabat one of the most architecturally unique and contrasting capitals in the world.

Sovětská éra a přestavba
