This volunteer maintained orchard and park is hosting its first CITO. We need help to knock back the brambles after the summer, because blackberries are good, but a jungle of thorns is not! Get revenge on the GeoCachers bane.
If the brambles are contained we can also do some pruning, dead and live hedging maintenance.
Meet at the published coordinates. A free car park is a short walk away, across a road.
Please dress for the weather, and bring some thorn proof gloves with you if possible. Tools will be provided.
A short briefing at 10am followed by as much time as you can give us to maintain the brambles and clear any litter we may find. Finish at 12.30pm. It is generally not overly strenuous, but a general level of fitness is helpful. The ground is not particularly kind to wheelchair users, as it's rough grass. It would be helpful to know you are coming so that refreshments can be provided, but there is a shop just down the road.
We usually work through most weathers, with only high winds that might present a health and safety risk working under trees putting us off.
We can host children (the orchard is enclosed on three sides and away from a road) but they will require supervision. Pets must be kept under control - this is a dog walking area.
