Geocache Description:

Here’s a little trail of eleven caches hidden in the beautiful Parkwood woodland on the outskirts of Appledore Village. None are at the given location – to find them all you will have to solve a simple little puzzle. If the puzzle appears a bit tricky just send me a message by clicking on “mankybadger” above. I am only too willing to help.

Park up at the given car parking co-ordinates and off you go. The caches are hidden along the main waymarked trails and can be found in any order.  There’s only eleven of them; they are as close together as I could feasibly get them. If you are doing the lot in order you are looking at a walk of less than two miles and about an hour and a half.

The intention is that (like all of my series) this will be a fun and easy caching experience, and to help you with this I will make a few observations…

The paths can get very muddy in winter.

I’ve checked several maps that are regularly used by geocachers and hikers and sadly none of them seem to bear much relation to the actual paths in these woods. But the paths and tracks are well worn and all are well marked. You really don’t need to go bushwhacking through the undergrowth.

If at any stage you are unsure about where the path goes just look for the yellow waymarking tape which appears on some of the less walked paths.

If you are doing these caches in number order there’s quite a distance between caches nine and ten which will involve a degree of backtracking past either #8 #7 and #6,  or #7 and #6 depending on which paths you take. Sorry about that. Proximity issues and fences…

Dogs… This series was put out with dogs in mind. Maintenance runs will double up as dog walks. However bear in mind that some of the caches are on the edge of the wood and small dogs  might be able to run under (or through) the fences (like the white one in the photo did).

And so to the actual puzzle….
