The 'ready-made city' of Fort Oglethorpe was originally created as a military post in 1902. It was the home of the first WAC, and where the Mobile Army Surgical Hospital (MASH) was invented.
You are looking for a classic ammo box. To get to this cache, park by the Welcome Center and walk to the far end of that building. The cache is outside the building, available any DAYLIGHT hours, even if the Welcome Center is closed. To learn much more about this unique town on the edge of the Chickamauga-Chattanooga National Battlefield Park, we highly recommend taking a few minutes to explore the exhibits in the Welcome Center, which is open Wed-Sat 12-5.
