Geocache Description:

In the 1920's, H.I. Willett, Sr. visited Floral Point Farm at Hoffler Creek to court Betty Ballard., whom he soon married. The earliest Willwtts sailed from England to coastal Virginia in the 17th century. Most likely they came from Somerset County, where both a village and a stream bear their name.

Like the Willetts family, the Willet shorebird is a frequent visitor at Hoffler Creek. in flight its distinctive black and white chevron pattern and its "pill-will-willey" call make this species a favorite of bird watchers.

An eagle scout trail takes you to a bird blind. The cache is close by/

Hoffler Creek Sanctuary is open Tuesday - Sunday, 10 am - 4 pm.
