Geocache Description:

"Hump day" is a colloquial term for Wednesday which refers to the middle point of a workweek and there appears to be very few CITO events happening mid-week.

Have you ever noticed that the take-away food chains attract a fair share litter?   Yes, takeaway food chains are often associated with increased litter due to their high volume of single-use packaging, which contributes significantly to plastic pollution in urban and natural environments.

Studies show that this packaging is a major component of litter, with the "circles of rubbish" around fast-food restaurants serving as a visible example of the problem.   See War on Waste: Concentric rings of rubbish circle fast food restaurants, study finds

However, Humans contribute the vast majority of the global litter problem, with billions of tons of waste, particularly plastic, produced annually, much of which ends up in the environment rather than in proper waste management systems.  A significant portion of litter comes from individuals deliberately discarding items, such as food wrappers, bottle caps, cigarette butts, and plastic bags.

Along this particular stretch of Ferry Road at Southport, there are 4 popular takeaway spots. so we shall clean up the area between these outlets, and the walkway and Gardiner Creek area at the back.

You will need to BYO gloves, hats, and sunscreen and water.

There is ample street parking on the side streets as per the listing below.

CO will attempt to remove all collected rubbish and will be in attendance for the duration of the event.
