Geocache Description:

About the Series:

This cache is part of the Northern Virginia Geocaching Organization's '25 Fall Series, Our Favorite Things. The goal of the series is to get to know some of our geocaching friends a little better by finding caches that showcase their favorite things—aside from geocaching, of course.

Feel free to find as many caches in the series as you'd like, and don't forget to enter 10 of the code words to help you discover the coordinates for the bonus cache. Enjoy the adventure!

How to find the cache located inside the library:

The posted coordinates are located outside of the library, where you will find the call number where the cache has been placed. At times this may be a high muggle area, so an alternative option is to solve this easy jigsaw puzzle: Click here

You should not ask the librarians for assistance. While this cache has been placed with the approval of the Branch Manager, Kathy Richardson, the staff may not be aware of the location. If you have an issue, please reach out to the cache owner via the Geocaching Messaging app.

The log must be signed to claim the find, please refer to the Lorton Library website for hours. As of the publication date of this cache te library hours are:

  • Sunday: closed
  • 10-9: Monday, Tuesday
  • 10-6: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday

The cache was released after the NoVAGO Geocaching 101 @ Lorton Library-GCBC0E9 event and attendees were granted permission to claim FTF.

About my favorite activity: Reading has long been my go-to way to unwind. I delight in finding books that are well written or bring a unique perspective. The app available through the library is an invaluable option for audio and ebooks. I trade books with my family and friends, look through used books and have purchased my share of books online and in the stores. I have a few books I would like to reread but mostly I pass them along for others to enjoy.

 My favorite books:

  • The House of Niccolò, by Dorothy Dunnett
  • Dune, Frank Herbert
  • The Lord of the Rings, by J.R.R. Tolkein
  • Game of Thrones, by George R.R. Martin
  • The Last Kingdom, The Arthur Books, Sharpes by Bernard Cornwell
  • The Murderbot Diaries, Books of Raksura by Martha Wells
  • and many, many others.

In addition to reading other books by the authors of the series mentioned above, I enjoy reading books by Alison Weir, Neil Gaiman, Christopher Moore, Brandon Sanderson, Terry Brooks, Michael Chabon, Ken Follett, Tana French, David, Baldacci, Lee Child, Stephen King, Kate Quinn and Hampton Sides.

Maybe one of these authors will spark your next great read. I’d love to hear about your favorite author or book—it might just inspire my next literary adventure, too!
