A geocaching event in the Great Court of the British Musuem celebrating key milestones of the discovery of the tomb of Tutankhamun. Meet at the corner cafe on Tuesday, 28th October 2025, 12 noon to 1pm
All are invited to this geocaching event inside the British Museum on the 100th anniversary of lifting the coffin lid revealing the mummy of King Tutankhamu. Meet fellow cachers at one of the cafe tables at the given coordinates inside the Great Court. Do note it will be busy again with the school's half term, used the rear entrance (through security) as it is the quieter way in. Together we can chat about all things geocaching and treasures that we had found...hopefully not any bodies!
Back in November 1922 Howard Carter and his team discovered the lost tomb of Tutankhamun in the Valley of the Kings, Egypt. In the three years since he has meticulously logged all the treasures found in the tomb. On the 28th October 1925 Howard Carter and his team, watched by the world's press, lifted the coffin lid revealing the mummified body of King Tutankhamun. They were the first to set eyes on the mummy for 3262 years!
The next 100th anniversary will be in 2030 when the last item found in the tomb was logged and sent to the National museum in Cario.
