A Swedish Automobile Geo-art

A Swedish company began its life making airplanes in the early 20th century, but after the end of World War II they needed something else to do. So they started designing cars. Known for unusual design choices and innovative engineering, the company carved out a tiny niche for itself with a devoted fanbase. Alas, under new corporate stewardship sales gradually fell off after the turn of the 21st century, and the Trollhättan assembly lines were shut down for good in 2012.

One bit of trivia for you: This Swedish automaker made many different models over the years... but all of their car model names began with 9.

This Hide

You can find this cache by starting with the posted coordinates, and projecting a waypoint at:

2x14 meters away, at 17y.97 degrees

(i.e. your solution will use a projection of two thousand plus meters at one hundred something degrees)

Fill in the missing digits for x and y based on the following two photos, in order:

x

y

(Roman numerals are not what you're looking for)

You can validate your puzzle solution with certitude.

The Trail

Nearly all of the caches in this series are located on or near the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail (LVRT), the longest rail trail in New England! Placements made with the permission and cooperation of the Rail Trails Program at the Vermont Agency of Transportation. Kindly follow the Trail Courtesy Guidelines posted along the LVRT; also included here in the photo gallery of each cache listing.

All non-motorized uses are allowed. In the winter snowmobiles also use the trail, and it is groomed by local snowmobile clubs. Signs posted at trail entrances summarize the allowed uses and expectations.

ATVs and other motorized recreation are not allowed on the trail.

E-bikes are allowed.

More information on the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail, including maps, parking information, current conditions, and more can be found at railtrails.vermont.gov/trails/lamoille-valley-rail-trail/

The Caches

Most hides are winter-friendly. Make sure to check the cache attributes for exceptions. Bring your own pencil, and tweezers may be useful sometimes too.

All final containers are located within a 2 mile radius of their posted coordinates. Due to this radius requirement, there are a couple caches in the series that are not located near the rail trail and are best visited by car.

This geo-art installation covers about 7 miles of the rail trail.

Enjoy your time on the LVRT!
