Once upon a time, Taman Teruntum Zoo was the childhood weekend spot for Kuantan folks — flat paths for kids to cycle around, shady corners for family picnics, and plenty of animals to visit. You might still remember the tortoise, the sun bear, the swinging gibbon with its “white gloves,” the siamang’s calls, the deer, ostrich, porcupine, otter, pony, snakes, peacocks, and more. Couples came here for pre-wedding photos too — it was serene, a little old-fashioned, but always special.
These days, the zoo has transformed into a hybrid experience with dinosaurs sharing the stage alongside real animals. Love it or not, the dinos have changed the atmosphere — but this spot will always carry memories for Kuantan’s families.
