The Fallen Sobobas Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Hemlock: This cache has been brought to my attention via a "needs archived log." This cache has been missing for over 3 months, which should be more than enough time to replace the cache. While I feel that Geocaching.com should hold the location for you and block other cachers from entering the area around this cache for a reasonable amount of time I don't think we can do so any longer. Therefore, I have archived this cache.

When/if this cache is replaced, please email me at hemlock@geocachingadmin.com and I'll be more than happy to take a look at your cache again. If it is still is within the guidelines for cache placement and posting, it will then be unarchived.

I want to thank you for the time that you have taken to contribute to geocaching in the past and am looking forward to seeing your cache up and running in the future.

Thanks for your understanding,
Hemlock

Geocache Description:

Massacre Canyon, San Jacinto

This cache was placed in memory of the indians who lived in this area more than a hundred years ago. Legend tells of failed crops in Temecula that forced tribes to send out scouts to search for food. The Sobobas had a plentiful crop, which the Temecula's(indians from Temecula, not real name) decided to take over, boxing the Sobobas in the canyon, and gave it its legendary name. This info was found online, but the truth may be quite different. There are ovens still standing to this day. I found three or four. If you follow the canyon in the mountain about five minutes, you will find a waterfall. If you climb up it, you will find a second set of waterfalls. You will see how easy it is to be trapped if running from someone. Ammo box contains several toys. Please don't climb on the rocks next to the cache, they are extremely unstable. You can reach the cache without climbing on any rocks, by going along-side them. Children can come on this one.
