Portage Boro was Incorporated in 1890. One hundred and one years later it became my home. The word portage is defined as: carrying boats, goods, etc, overland from one body of water to another. In a 1936 Ripley's "Believe It or Not" Newspaper column it was said the town had per capita, more churches than any other town or city in the nation. Unfortunately that can not still be said today. Along with churches there were also several bars. This cache is a typical hide close to the location of a former popular bar. Bonus points if you can name that bar in your log. Take time to enjoy the view of the water. I live close to the cache. If you let me know your in the area I'll stop down to say hi and talk geocaching with you.
