Geocache Description:

Lyngby Station is a central part of the North Line and is served by S-train lines A and E. The station is located in the heart of Lyngby and functions as an important hub with its large bus terminal, connecting the northern suburbs to Copenhagen. Architecturally, the station is distinctive, as Lyngby Ring Road runs directly over the station building and the adjacent shopping arcade.

The station opened on October 1, 1863, as the terminus for the first section of the North Line from Copenhagen. The following year, the line was extended via Hillerød to Helsingør. The original station building was designed by Vilhelm Carl Heinrich Wolf but was later demolished in connection with the expansion to double track between Hellerup and Holte. The current station building was constructed slightly further south in 1890-1891, designed by Heinrich Wenck and N.P.C. Holsøe.

In 1936, the station became part of the S-train network. In 2026, Lyngby Station will gain additional connectivity when a new light rail station opens at Jernbanepladsen.

Dont forget a pen.
