Views, and more views - left and right, up and down, forward and back.
The walking track between Mount Tidbinbilla and Mount Domain has recently received upgrades. It is now easier to navigate and walk. The track, previously known a Loki's trail, is now called the Mindjagari Track. New track-markers make navigation easier. In trickier locations the markers occur more frequently. There are also pink ribbons on trees and bushes.
You will move through varying landscapes along the track. These range from dense woodland to rocky outcrops. The track ranges from flat to very steep. Watch out for the varied flowering plants and native orchards. You may also see animals and insects, especially in the warmer months.
Along the way you will get distant views of Canberra’s higher dams and some of the better waterfalls. In particular, Bendora Dam and Ginini Falls are clearly seen from GZ. There are views of mountain ranges in most directions as you traverse along the ridge line.
Most winters you can enjoy the snow and views over the clouds in the valleys. Spring time can be very windy; to compensate, you get the wattle blossom and other flowering plants. Summer can be hot so bring plenty of water. Fortunately, every season has something special to offer.
Good footwear is essential as the track can be rocky, and at times slippery. If you are starting from Mountain Creek Rd car park and finishing at Fishing Gap car park, a car shuffle would be a good idea.
Enjoy the walk and make sure to take all rubbish with you.
Enjoy the journey.
