It's amazing that we had forts here during the French and Indian War! Less than a mile away , Fort Norris was one of a line of frontier forts protecting settlers north of the Blue Mountains. It was erected in 1756 under the direction of James Hamilton and Benjamin Franklin. The fort was commanded by Captain Jacob Orndt. While
