Okay, maybe "bash" is a bit of an overstatement. How about a low-key morning event at the Coe Hunting Hollow picnic tables? It's Black Friday, aka Get Outside Friday, so let's get outside!
There's absolutely no hiking required for this event, except for the short stroll from the parking lot to the picnic tables, but if you'd like to enjoy the day hiking in Coe after the event, that sounds like a great idea to me! I'll be doing a medium-ish hike after the event, and people are welcome to join me if you'd like, or go off on your own hike, or just bail after the bash.
If you've never been here and have heard intimidating things about Coe, you might enjoy caching along Hunting Hollow Road. It's a mostly flat out-and-back route, 3 miles each way, packed with caches, creeks, wildlife, and views of the other steeper trails you can tackle later (or not)!
If all goes as planned, this event will also be my 10,000th find! I'll bring breakfast snacks to celebrate and to get us fueled up for whatever the day holds.
The Hunting Hollow parking lot requires a fee (self-pay) or a state parks pass. If the weather is terrible, as in pouring buckets, we can look for an indoor location, but here's hoping for great fall weather!
