Geocache Description:

ITA

ENG

The "cisterns" of the Murgia are basins or reservoirs built of stone/tuff to collect rainwater for agricultural/pastoral use. At the back of the abandoned building, you can see a square hole in the floor through which water could be drawn. It is very likely that the Costa Arcangelo Cistern was built between the 18th and 19th centuries, when the Minervino Murge area was actively colonized with farmhouses and water points for pastoral use. The cache is located in the first room accessed from the CAI trail.
