Geocache Description:

Companion cache to the venerable Tehachapi Treasure. The intent of this cache is to introduce the complete Tehachapi Loop Road, the view of the railroad loop from above and a little bit of history.

I am very fond of old roads and this is the one everybody used to drive between Bakersfield and Tehachapi. Offers great views of the canyon and especially of the railroad loop. Approximately 36 trains per day pass through this very unique railroad feature. A four thousand foot long train will pass over its tail on the way up the hill. Tail over head for the downbound trains.

Coming from Bakersfield take the Keene off-ramp and be sure to stop by Tehachapi Treasure first. From Mohave take the Highway 202 exit and stay on it until you intersect the Tehachapi Loop Road.

That junction is located at N35° 07.481 W118° 29.696

Our virtual policy is that cachers log their find at the same time they email the answers to me. I will only email you if I believe you were not actually at the cache site. We can negotiate a resolution from there. This saves time for both the finder and the placer, especially if the placer is out of town on vacation and can’t get back to the finder for two or three weeks. This also allows for quicker log and total cache find tally.

Questions:

What organization placed the newest plaque?

How far up the grade does the plaque say this feature is?

What two cities was this rail line intended to connect?
