Geocache Description:

"Looking Out" (2025) by Benjamin Butler, from the Library's entryway:

** THE GEOCACHE IS NOT AT THE LISTED COORDINATES **

This is an Adventure Lab bonus cache. You need to complete the 5 stages of the "Book(s) of Brilliant Things" Adventure Lab to obtain the clues which will tell you where this geocache is located.

St. Petersburg's Main Library, aka the President Barack Obama Main Library, had its grand re-opening on 27 Sep 2025 after having been closed for renovations since 2021. Situated on Jorgensen Lake, the revamped library includes an auditorium, multiple meeting rooms, a cafe, and separate areas for kids and teens. Following approval from the St. Petersburg City Council in 2018, the library was officially dedicated in honor of former President Barack Obama in February 2021, shortly before closing for renovation.

Designed by architect William B. Harvard and originally built in 1963, the library has long been a focal point of the St. Petersburg community.

Free public parking is available on either side of the library as well as in the front, along with a drop-off driveway and handicap parking.

The cache's title (named after a song, as most of my caches and trackables are) refers to the song "Book of Brilliant Things" by the Scottish band Simple Minds from their 1984 album "Sparkle in the Rain" (and also appears on their 1987 double-album "Live in the City of Light").  "Sparkle in the Rain," their "breakthrough commercial success" album, achieved #1 in the U.K. and reached the top 20 in several other countries including Germany, Switzerland, Norway, Sweden, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Australia and Canada. The band was also making considerable headway in the U.S., with the album receiving 4 out of 5 stars in a "Rolling Stone" magazine review. (Their U.S. success would skyrocket the following year with the #1 hit "Don't You Forget About Me"). The version of "Book of Brilliant Things" which appears on their 1987 live album differs significantly from the original, and some would argue it's the more impactful version of the song.

DECYPHER THIS PHRASE (using clues from the Adventure Lab) to reveal the geocache's location:

You are seeking a regular-sized container, with plenty of room for swag and trackables.  (I've left a little something for the FTF). **Please don't post any photos that reveal the cache's location.** (That would defeat the purpose of having players complete the Adventure Lab first).

Many thanks to Charleen Bryson, Librarian III & Adult Services Coordinator of the President Barack Obama Main Library for her assistance with this project! For more information about the Library, visit: splibraries.org
