Reitti, jonka alussa kätkö on, vie lähelle luonnon hiljaisia sävyjä – vaikka lähellä onkin asutusta ja kaupungin ääniä, siellä ympäristö tarjoaa hetken irtioton arjesta. Heti alkumatkasta huomaa, miten maasto pehmenee, kosteikko-tyyppinen kasvillisuus ja rantamaisema alkavat saada tilaa, ja polku saattaa kulkea paikoin puusillan, jopa pitkospuiden muodossa. Näin pääsee astumaan veden ja ruovikon reunalle, juuri sinne missä luonto kohtaa kaupungin.
Polkua pitkin kävellessä ympärillä voi nähdä järviruokoa, pajua, rentukkaa ja muita kosteikkoluonnon lajeja. Samalla voi kuulla sorsien tai muiden vesilintujen kutsuja. Vaikka kaupungin äänet kantautuvat taustalla, niiden humina muodostaa lempeän taustan luonnonäänille ja tuo vahvasti sen tunteen: olet lähellä, mutta silti hieman erillään.
Reitin päässä löytyy viihtyisä levähdyspaikka: laavu tulipaikkoineen osoitteessa Eteläranta 35, Kuopio. Laavu on valmistunut kesällä 2023 ja sen rakentus on tuore, joten paikka on hyvin hoidetussa kunnossa. Paikalla on tulipaikka, ja polttopuut huolletaan kaupungin toimesta.
Viereisten talonyhtiöden vierasparkit, eivät ole kätkeilijöiden käytettävissä.

The path where the journey begins leads you close to the quiet tones of nature. Although nearby you can still hear the sounds of the city and surrounding homes, the environment here offers a small escape from everyday life. Soon after you set out, the ground becomes softer, and wetland vegetation and gentle lakeside scenery start to take over. In some places the path crosses small wooden bridges or boardwalks, guiding you to the edge of the reeds — to that peaceful spot where nature meets the city.
As you walk, you may notice common reed, willow, marsh marigold and other wetland plants along the way. Ducks and other waterbirds can often be heard nearby. Even though the hum of the city carries faintly in the background, it blends into the natural soundscape, creating a calm and balanced atmosphere — a feeling of being close, yet pleasantly apart.
At the end of the route there is a cozy resting place: a lean-to shelter with a campfire site at Eteläranta 35, Kuopio. The shelter was built in the summer of 2023 and is well maintained. Firewood is provided and taken care of by the city.
