A few details about Rutherford GO Station:
This station opened in 2001, to accomodate the increase in ridership due to the development of Vaughan along the Rutherford area. This station is a stop along the GO train Barrie Line, and includes a York Region Transit bus loop.
The station had a major redevlopment project completed in 2023, with the demolition of the original station, replacing with a new station and parking lot complex. Along with the increased parking (1200 new spaces, as well 100 bicycle parking spaces) several other improvements were made. The station has an improved bus terminal and passenger drop/pick up lot, improved rail platforms with full canopies. Along with the station, the tracks that cross Rutherford station were modified wth a new railway bridge to allow Rutherford Road to be routed under this bridge, and a new pedestrian bridge and bicycle lanes were also added. This eliminated the typcial parking congestion that would occur along Rutherford Road with every GO train arrival to the station.
The station upgrade also included the additon of a second track for future expansion projects.
