*General Information*
The cache is a sneaky small container and you will need to bring a writing utensil and tweezers. The cache area may be busy with muggles, so I recommend searching for it between morning and late afternoon when it's typically quieter. There are thorns in the general area but you souldn't have to get close to them to retrieve this cache.
*History of the Park Name*
Charles Curtis Whitecotton (1942–2015) was a deeply respected leader and community servant from Whitesboro, Texas. Born in Amarillo, he married Kay Winn in 1963 and moved to Whitesboro in 1966, where he became an integral part of the town’s development. He co-founded Tel-Star Cable TV with his family and went on to serve as Vice President of Quality Assurance at Monitor Inc., later becoming co-owner and VP of ISC Data Com. His dedication to public service began in 1970 when he was elected as a City Alderman, a position he held for 11 terms before eventually serving as Mayor. Throughout his life, he was active on numerous boards and committees including the Greater Texoma Utility Authority, Grayson County Airport Board, Chamber of Commerce, Planning & Zoning, and the Economic Development Committee.
Charles was also a major supporter of youth sports and education. He volunteered countless hours organizing local sports leagues and served as a respected baseball umpire for youth through college-level games. His passion for community engagement earned him the honor of having Charles Whitecotton Park dedicated in his name in 1998. In 2010, he was named Whitesboro’s Citizen of the Year for his lifelong commitment to public service and civic improvement. After serving as City Administrator from 1995 to 1998, he returned to private business and retired in 2013. Charles passed away in 2015 at the age of 72, leaving behind a legacy of leadership, generosity, and lasting impact on the city he helped shape.
