La escultura se compone de dos bloques de granito de 3,80 m. de alto y 0,80x0,85 m de ancho con un peso total de 19.000 kg. Además, sobre los bloques o monolitos, elaborada en acero inoxidable, una paloma que corona la obra y que Amable Diego ha donado al Ayuntamiento de Santa Marta.

La escultura es obra del artista Amable Diego, explicó el significado de su trabajo: «Queríamos lograr algo sólido, conciso, estable y duradero, de ahí el uso de materiales como el granito y el acero inoxidable. La elección del retrato, de líneas sencillas, responde a la idea de dar a la escultura un concepto identificativo, perfectamente reconocible, algo que creo hemos conseguido. La paloma por supuesto representa la paz, una paz que por mucho que se haya presumido siempre no se logró hasta el asesinato de Miguel Ángel Blanco, que nos revolvió a todos las entrañas pero nos unió para conseguirla».
