Anguane are a type of water nymph or fairy in Italian folklore, particularly from the northern Italian regions of the Veneto and Friuli. Like their classical Greek counterparts, the naiads, they are female spirits associated with bodies of fresh water, such as rivers, springs, and wells, and are often depicted as beautiful and magical beings.
