Geocache Description:

Don't tell him Pike!

What is it?

Come and meet the men of Dad's Army - the Walmington-on-Sea Home Guard. Much of the filming of this classic TV programme was undertaken around Thetford, with the town doubling as Walmington-on-Sea. A museum to the show has been set up in part of the Guildhall since 2007 and today we get a chance to visit (it is not normally open on a Thursday). In addition to the museum there are plenty of caches and Ad Labs in the town including a Virtual cache on Castle Hill (if you like climbing steps).

As the Museum is opening especially for us this afternoon there will be a charge for entry. For £10 you will get tea/coffee and biscuits, an introduction and then access to the museum. The Museum is limited in size and has suggested that we book two time slots 3pm and 3:30pm. We need to give them numbers in advance so please book your tickets in the shop on the website. If you don't want to go into the museum then you will still be able to sign the log book and talk with those outside.

When is it?

The Event will be on Thursday 6th August from 15:00 to 16:00

Where is it?

The Event will be held outside the Dad’s Army Museum, The Old Fire Station, The Guildhall, Cage Lane, Thetford, IP24 2DS

There are a lot of car parks in Thetford, mostly owned by the local council and free to use, however they are often quite small and tricky to get to. A couple of the larger ones are given below, but a Google search on car parks in Thetford will show you the whole range.

Update **** There is a plan to have a group photo at the Captain Mainwaring statue immediately following the event - around 16:05 - 16:10 (it is a 5 minute walk from the Museum. All welcome. ****

This is a side event for the
