Cold Cache Crew 2026 presents...
Frozen Waterfalls - Lower Tahquamenon Falls

Located in Luce County, The Lower Tahquamenon Falls is a type of smaller falls and cascades that have a height of 10 feet and a crest of 100. Its water flows with a naturally amber color due to tannins from cedar and hemlock swamps. During the winter, the falls offer a magical and serene experience with icy formations and snow-dusted trees. The lower parking lot is seasonal, requiring a hike or snowshoe trek along a cleared path to reach the viewing areas, making it feel more adventurous and rewarding than the easily accessible Upper Falls. Expect frozen mist, stunning ice flows, and the river's signature brown water flowing amidst a winter wonderland, with options for snowshoe rentals and heated restrooms available at the park.
