Geocache Description:

The Lake House in Saylorsburg was established in 1820 and originally served as a stagecoach stop and tourist hotel for visitors to Saylors Lake. Its history includes housing soldiers during the Civil War, but later closed as a hotel in 1990. It is recorded that was used as an infirmary and place of “pick up” for next of kin when tragic accidents occurred. It is said that many men died on its front porch waiting for family to arrive. During the Great Crash of the NY stock exchange, wealthy guests, having left NY in shame, saw their final days here. Saylorsburg became known as “The Place to Hang Yourself”. Its no wonder that the current use is such a scary place.  Please do NOT enter this PRIVATE property (there are cameras and security).
