Doodenanning School
Location Information
Background
The Doodenanning School was established in 1907 to serve the children of early settler families in the area. Initially, the community built simple bag and iron structures to house the teacher and host concerts, until more permanent buildings were constructed. Over time, nearby schools opened, and by 1945, declining enrolments and the introduction of school buses led to its closure. The original buildings were removed by the late 1940s, and in 1985, a reunion marked the site with plaques commemorating the students and teachers.
Access
This cache is 2WD accessible via unsealed roads. Access is from Geyer St (0.8km unsealed), from the Doodenanning-Mawson Road (sealed) and Carter-Doodenaninng Road (sealed). Towing vehicles can enter the site and park at the Doodenanning Hall, with sufficient room to turn around.
