Hogmanay up a (very wee) hill again this year - with great views of the Wallace Monument (and perhaps some local fireworks too).
It is about 300 metres from the listing parking coordinates (with just 20 metres of ascent) to the top of Gowan Hill. The event coordinates are for the bench immediately to the left of the Beheading Stone (as you're standing facing the stone). I'd recommend a torch (of course) and walking boots as the path up can be a bit muddy. You may also want to bring a camping type chair if you fancy a seat with a view.
So wrap up warm and bring along a flask of what you fancy, I'll bring some shortbread/tablet and together we can welcome in the New Year. I'll decorate my rucksack with fairy lights so will hopefully be easy to spot.
