to Manitoba geocachers who have passed away
Mustash
(active 2003 - 2025)
Mustash joined geocaching in 2003 but didn't find his first geocache (GCMGYF) until January 2005. He found 5088 geocaches and hid another fifty-three, accumulating a total of 278 favourite points. The last cache he found was GCB6TQ7 on August 16 2025. Mustash's caching exploits enabled him to collect 268 geocaching souvenirs.
For Mustash, the adventure and the friendships along the way were the best part about gecaching. He enjoyed caching while traveling and traveling while caching, and found caches in Mexico, in each of the 10 provinces and 3 territories, plus all 50 states. Mustash also visited Geocaching Headquarters and the Original Cache location in Oregon. A popular travel/caching destination for Mustash was Hawaii where they found 60 caches over many visits.
Geocaching combined Mustash's love of nature with his passion for puzzles and brain teasers. He also gained great satisfaction in stashing a geocache in a scenic location for others to find. And took great joy in reading the log entries of those who embarked on the adventure to find the beautiful location (and the geocache) that Mustash had laid out. Hecla Island and The Whiteshell were two of his favourite destinations and he visited often.
Stan loved to combine caching, hiking, and nature photography (especially birds) and would often go adventuring with friends, family, or even by himself for hours or sometimes days, while sleeping in his van. He visited every corner of our province as part of his adventures.
Mustash is missed by the Manitoba geocaching community.
