Geocache Description:

In recognition of the deep history and culture of Lutruwita, we acknowledge and pay our respects to all Tasmanian Aboriginal people, in particular their Elders, past and present. We specifically acknowledge the Mumirimina People of the Oyster Bay Tribe, the Traditional Owners of the land on which The Tassie Event is being held. We extend our respects to their Elders, past and present who have resided in the area and have been an integral part of the history of this region.

Longford Trail Event - Halfway

  • What: Join us in the charming historic town of Longford for the second leg of the Trail Event series leading to Sorell Mega.
  • When: Wednesday 4th March 2026
  • Where: Longford Village Green
  • Why: We’re gathering to celebrate reaching the halfway mark of our caching trail across Tasmania. It’s a great chance to catch up with new friends you’ve made on the road and swap stories of the caches you’ve conquered so far.
  • What to expect: A relaxed social meet-up in one of Tasmania’s most beautiful country towns. There’ll be time to share travel tips, log some local caches, and enjoy the camaraderie of fellow geocachers before we continue south toward the big event. There is lots of parking nearby for anyone towing, and a caravan park within walking distance. We have a fun caching game planned, with a prize to be won.

The Tassie Event is set to be the next big event and the first ever Mega held in Tasmania the weekend following this event, March 7 & 8. The mega is a chance for geocachers from all across Tasmania, Australia and around the world to come together and celebrate geocaching in its 26th year. The Tassie Event follows on from a decade of successful Victorian geocaching events.
