LHR-GT #01: Rail 66 Country Trail
Stretching more than 20 miles through the scenic countryside of northern Clarion County, the Rail 66 Country Trail is a four-season, non-motorized rail trail built along the historic Knox–Kane railroad bed. Winding past forests, small communities, and wide-open landscapes, the trail connects to major routes like the North Country National Scenic Trail and links riders and hikers to nearby outdoor destinations, including Cook Forest State Park and the Allegheny National Forest. Once a vital corridor for industry, Rail 66 carried coal, lumber, and a wide range of commodities that fueled the region’s growth. Maintained through the dedication of a local nonprofit and its volunteers, Rail 66 keeps the spirit of the old B&O alive while promoting recreation, community connection, and economic growth across northwest Pennsylvania. TO FIND THIS CACHE, you'll first need to visit the Lucinda Railway Station, located just off PA Route 66. While parking is available on the shoulder of the road, it's highly recommended to park at the provided waypoint and take the short walk down the trail to stage one. Here, you'll find an original 'C&O For Progress' caboose that was used to transport visitors up and down the rail. Hidden among the undercarriage, you are searching for a black magnetic keyholder that contains a code and instructions to access the final, which is hidden nearby. Thanks and happy caching!
This project was financed in part by a grant from the Community Conservation Partnerships Program, the Heritage Areas Program, under the administration of the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Bureau of Recreation and Conservation.
