LHR-GT #04: Wilds Sonshine Factory

Located along Route 6 in Kane, Pennsylvania, the Wilds Sonshine Factory serves as an educational and community-focused destination that highlights the region’s natural resources and heritage. Its Agricultural Education Center features interactive exhibits exploring the evolution of Pennsylvania’s forest and timber industry, along with the roles of water and agriculture in shaping local communities and the state economy. A striking centerpiece is a 43.5-foot hemlock slab sourced from a 205-year-old Warren County tree, symbolizing the area’s deep timber legacy. Through exhibits, events, and hands-on learning, the site offers visitors meaningful insight into sustainability, resource stewardship, and the historical foundations of the Pennsylvania Wilds. TO FIND THIS CACHE,  you'll first need to complete the 'Evolution of PA Forests & Timber' Adventure Lab. This is a quick and easy 5-stage Adventure Lab that highlights the forest ecological succession process through an interactive exhibit found at the posted coordinates. Once complete, you will receive a clue to solve for a 4-digit lock combination. (If you need help locating the answer to this final question, review the signs on the far left of the timeline.) The final is located only a short walk away at the waypoint found below. Please refrain from searching for this cache after daylight hours. Thanks!

TO OPEN THE LOCK, insert the four-digit combination and press the button on the front to release the shackle. Remove the lock at an angle, or by closing the shackle in the 'unlocked' position and sliding it diagonally. Once complete, replace the lock from right to left, ensuring the button is facing the front for the next cacher. Thanks.

This project was financed in part by a grant from the Community Conservation Partnerships Program, the Heritage Areas Program, under the administration of the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Bureau of Recreation and Conservation.
