LHR-GT #06: Penn Brad Oil Museum
Located in McKean County, Pennsylvania, the Penn Brad Oil Museum explores the history of the Bradford Oil Field, the world’s first billion-dollar oil field and a cornerstone of the early petroleum industry. Emerging in 1881, the field once produced 83 percent of the nation’s oil and transformed the region through innovation and industrial growth. Through exhibits, guided tours, and preserved sites, including a restored oil lease house, an 1890-era Standard Rig, historic downtown walking tours, and rare drilling artifacts, the museum brings to life the people, technologies, and stories that shaped Pennsylvania’s role in the global energy landscape and defined a pivotal chapter in American industrial history. TO FIND THIS CACHE, make your way to the Penn Brad Oil Museum and navigate to the posted coordinates near the front entrance. Permission was granted for the placement of this cache, even during off-season and non-operational hours (please no night caching, though). Locate a flag pole and answer the following question from the plaque. The cache is mounted to the wooden pillar directly behind the flagpole (at the posted coordinates).
TO OPEN THE LOCK, insert the four-digit combination and press the button on the front to release the shackle. Remove the lock at an angle, or by closing the shackle in the 'unlocked' position and sliding it diagonally. Once complete, replace the lock from right to left, ensuring the button is facing the front for the next cacher. Thanks.
According to the bronze plaque on the flag pole, what year did April Lang serve as the Region I director for Pyoga?
