LHR-GT #10: Susquehanna Riverwalk

The Susquehanna River Walk is a scenic 4.2-mile, asphalt-paved greenway that follows both banks of the West Branch of the Susquehanna River, connecting Williamsport, South Williamsport, and Loyalsock via Market Street and Maynard Street bridges. A signature feature is the Timber Trail loop between the bridges, where interpretive signage and public art, including the life-sized “Wood Hick” sculpture, highlight the region’s rich lumber heritage and its role in shaping the local economy and culture. The river itself served as a vital artery for the industry, with massive log drives once carrying harvested timber downstream to mills and markets, transforming Williamsport into one of the nation’s lumber capitals during the 19th century. With river views from atop the levees, wheelchair accessibility, and easy access from multiple parking areas, the trail offers a welcoming, year-round experience that blends outdoor recreation with meaningful historical interpretation. TO FIND THIS CACHE,  you'll first need to complete the 'Susquehanna Timber Trail' Adventure Lab. Enjoy a peaceful stroll along the river as you check out the informational signage relating to the Lumber Heritage Region. Once you complete all the Adventure Lab locations, you'll receive the lock combination to open this Geocache, which can be found at the posted coordinates.

TO OPEN THE LOCK, insert the four-digit combination and press the button on the front to release the shackle. Remove the lock at an angle, or by closing the shackle in the 'unlocked' position and sliding it diagonally. Once complete, replace the lock from right to left, ensuring the button is facing the front for the next cacher. Thanks.

This project was financed in part by a grant from the Community Conservation Partnerships Program, the Heritage Areas Program, under the administration of the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Bureau of Recreation and Conservation.
