Hald Strawberry Park’s southeastern hillside gives you a nice little workout without needing to disappear deep into the backcountry. From Strawberry Lane, head up the main route about three tenths of a mile one way until you reach a handy trail intersection near the City of Ashland building. This is your jumping off point. From here, smaller side paths peel off the main ditch trail and begin winding across the slope.
Your target is along one of those smaller side trails, not on the primary ditch trail itself. As you walk, listen for birds in the trees. Even in winter this area stays surprisingly active with chirps and flutters in the brush. The cache can be reached with a single step off the path, so there is no need to stomp through the undergrowth. That said, the prevalence of burrs in the area mean you should give your clothing a quick once over after you make the find, and possibly bring your TOTTs not just for the cache, but for clearing socks or similar of the sticky bits.
You do not need to move rocks or damage vegetation. If it feels like you are tearing things up, you are doing too much. Please make sure you replace the cache with camo intact to cover the obvious spot, and if the camo is missing, place a few pieces to ensure longevity at this spot.
