Some geocaches teach you about local history or hidden viewpoints. This one is all about something a little less glamorous but just as important: how and where you park your geomobile. There are plenty of spots in town where a car can sit safely and legally while you dash out to make a find, and plenty of spots where stopping “just for a minute” can earn you a ticket, tow, or an angry knock on the window.
For this cache, think of parking as part of the challenge. Your first task is to find a legal, clearly allowed place to leave your vehicle. Obey every posted “No Parking” and “Fire Lane” sign. Do not block driveways, mailboxes, gates, alleys, business access, or private property. If a curb is painted red, yellow, or otherwise marked as a no stopping zone, keep rolling. The container will wait for you to park legally - it's not running anywhere.
Once you have a proper parking spot, one where you could leave the car there for a while without worrying about a tow truck, ticket, or irritated property owner, then you can switch into geocacher mode and head toward ground zero on foot. Expect to walk a little farther than some park and grab hides. That is intentional. Your safety, the safety of others, and good relationships with neighbors and businesses are worth a few extra steps.
When you do make the find, sign the log, return the container exactly as you found it, and leave the area just as clean and calm as when you arrived so this cache can continue to serve as a quiet reminder that safe, legal parking is part of responsible geocaching.
