In 1920, more than $5,000 was raised to have this memorial statue World War I soldiers erected in Juniata. The statue cared by Frank B. Gibson of Lock Haven was dedicated on Sept. 6, 1920. “This will be a sacred spot – a spot to visit as you appraise yourselves of your own true value as Americans, a place to be proud of, a place that will be an inspiration to the people in future generations,” Judge Thomas J. Baldrige said during the dedication ceremony. The statue was moved a block in 1980 to allow for development of a playground for the Juniata Elementary School.
