14 December 2025, 12:00 Noon - 12:30 PM
This is a Holiday Flashmob Event. It starts precisely at 12 Noon and ends at 12:30. When logging your Will Attend, it would be helpful to indicate (although not required) what kinds of cookies you are bringing so we can have a variety. This is the ninth annual Geocaching Holiday Cookie Mob. The first six in San Francisco were hosted by mickey4jes (who has returned to the Bay Area and resumed these in SF this year).
Last year we held the event at the gazebo at the Los Gatos Creek Group picnic area, which worked very nicely. Look for GBA folks if by chance the gazebo is full of holiday reveling muggles and we have to move a short distance away (highly unlikely at Sunday 12 noon in December for our 30 minute window). There is a low semi-circular concrete wall surrounding the pavilions which was a nice place to put cookie offerings and people could circulate along the wall to pick them up.
Remember, since it's a flashmob event, you should be hanging around "blending in" up until precisely Noon. Please do not congregate!!!
Who doesn't LOVE COOKIES!? This event is a holiday cookie exchange event. Please bring 2-3 dozen cookies to be swapped. The more you bring, the more you can swap for! You'll start out with just your own, but should go home with a plethora of different types of cookies.
What to Bring
- 2-3 dozen cookies
- an empty tupperware container to swap your new cookies into (what geocacher does not have some tupperware around)
- If you have tongs for people picking up your cookies that would be nice
Schedule:
At precisely Noon
We will appear carrying a container for TB/coin swaps and some milk/cups to share. When we place these out, that'll be the signal that the fun has begun. This is also the time to be swapping TBs and coins.
At 12:05, we will gather around and take a group photo.
At 12:10, we will begin swapping of cookies. Please bring an empty tupperware container to swap INTO and use your existing tupperware to swap OUT. Please use a napkin when picking up cookies or tongs if there are some at the cookies.
At 12:30, the event is over. Walk off and go about your day (or go off and gorge on cookies)!
Enjoy your cookies!
If you're not a cookie baker, bring some other type of edible holiday treat that can be swapped (at equivalent value to a cookie of course).
NOTE: This is a family friendly event, so please leave any "adult only" cookies at home.
Re: parking, It is directly adjacent to the gazebo area. Like all County parks, $6 to park but if there is no attendant and the self-serve parking machine is broken you can take a chance. Use your judgement at the time as the conditions may vary. There's also some street parking outside the park on Dell, which is about a 0.2 mile walk if you want more steps.
If you arrive early (or stay late), there are some nice trails to walk and things to find that geocachers might be interested in.
