Geocache Description:

Micro container with gems! Good luck!

There was once an 11-story, 440 guest room Spanish Renaissance style building in the adjacent vacant lot called The Buccanneer which opened in 1929. The hotel’s main lobby was outfitted with elegant bronze fixtures, oak beams, and colorful tile in shades of blue, purple, orange, and olive green. One of the most memorable features was an oversize plaster panel depicting the legendary buccaneer Jean Lafitte with his sailing ship!

After sustaining significant damage from Hurricane Carla in 1961, the Buccaneer Hotel closed its doors to the public. Later that year, the Moody Foundation donated the property to the Texas Conference of the United Methodist Church. It was converted into a retirement home and renamed the Moody House Edgewater Retirement Community. It was demolished on New Years day 1999 leaving this void now known as Beach Central.

Look up at the Grand Galvez and wave as there is a webcam up there! On another note, the Balinese Room was located in front on the Seawall, another note worthy location. Cache is hidden well but I'm sure you will figure it out. If you have trouble always refer to the hint! Watch for muggles and put it back like you found it. Have fun!
